Use this page to explore the planet Earth. It's a tool that you can use online wherever you are. You can look for a place, zoom in, zoom out, choose Road View, Aerial View... It's very simple to use it.
The first time you open this page the whole world is shown. Then you can look for a place by clicking on an area of the map or by using the search box at the right. It will perform a global earth search for you. Just insert the place you want and press the "Go" button.
If your browser can detect your location, then a blue link will also be available at the bottom of the map. When you click it the map zooms directly to that place.
In the past this page used to show the Earth sphere floating in the space. However the Google Earth API was discontinued and the maps stopped working. As an alternative it used Google Maps that showed the same satellite images as Google Earth without the typical realistic planet globe. Now it uses Bing Maps images. Unfortunately some features like 3D view of buildings and terrain are not available anymore. But it still has some great features, if you zoom in close enough on some places, like some important cities of the world, you can get a "Bird's eye" view, which is a view from the air showing pictures more closer than satellite (these images were taken at an angle from a plane). For some places of the earth you can also get "Streetside" view by dragging the blue "little man icon" to the place on the map that you want to see closer. Enjoy!
